Canadian Coal: Post COVID-19 Recovery

The Coal Association of Canada (CAC) will be holding our annual conference November 30 to December 2, 2021. We hope that you will join us in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia at the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre for Canada’s premiere coal conference as we focus on Canadian Coal: Post COVID-19 Recovery.
Registration for the 2021 CAC Conference is open and there is a block of rooms available at the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre on a first-come, first-serve basis!
The conference attracts a diverse group of delegates from across Canada and around the world representing the broad spectrum of the coal industry. Here is just a sample of some of the groups represented at our conference each year:
- coal companies (exploration, development, and production)
- coal transporters (rail and trucking)
- ports and terminals
- equipment manufacturers
- suppliers of goods and services
- Canadian governments (federal, provincial, and municipal)
The CAC recognizes the importance of our annual conference to provide market and industry updates to members and industry representatives. Be a part of the conversation as we explore the benefits that the Canadian coal industry has to offer the world. Canadian coal projects are gaining momentum and with ever-increasing interest in our product, it is important that we gather and share our knowledge, opinions, and expertise of the sector.
Come and gain a broader understanding of the Canadian and global coal industry from Canadian and internationally renowned industry leaders, analysts and experts, panel discussions and fellow delegates, which you can put to work in your business. Renew business connections and forge new relationships. Benefit from a variety of sponsorship packages to connect with key audiences.

Infrastructure needs are growing and increasing demand for high-quality steel-making coal. Global energy demands are on the rise and coal will play an important part of the mix for decades to come.
We are very pleased to welcome back Robert W. Bell as our moderator this year. With decades of industry expertise in both the Canadian and international coal spaces, he will help guide and inform our sessions and conversations throughout the conference!
The Coal Association of Canada is also excited to continue our partnership with the Western Canadian Coal Society (WCCS) for our 2021 Technical Program. The WCCS will expertly curate the program that takes place on Tuesday, November 30, ahead of our always-popular Welcome Reception.
Following the opening Keynote Address, Day 2 of the conference will open with presentations on market outlooks and current and future industry economic trends. Delegates will hear from industry experts from Wood Mackenzie, IHS Markit, and Energy Ventures Analysis.
We will then explore the logistics of moving our valuable Canadian coal to market. Presentations and discussion from CN Railways, Port of Vancouver, and others will provide an in-depth look at Canada’s transportation and freight capabilities.
Do you want to learn more about current and future metallurgical and thermal coal projects in Canada? Hear about them directly from various producers and pre-producers on Thursday, December 2.
In addition to our quality information sessions, we have scheduled as many networking opportunities as possible. Delegates can catch up with colleagues and make new connections during the Welcome Reception, breakfasts, lunches and networking breaks.
Recognizing the exceptional work of the coal industry in Canada is of the utmost importance. We look forward to the presentation of the CAC Annual Award of Distinction to this year’s recipient at our Awards Reception.
We will continue to finalize the program and add speakers as we get closer to the conference, so please watch for additional communications from the CAC.
