Summer 2013
The Summer 2013 issue said “bonjour” to Quebec’s mining industry. The lead article highlights two major projects: Stornoway Diamond Corporation’s Renard project, which will be the first diamond mine in the province, and GéoMégA Resources Montviel Rare Earths/Niobium project, which focuses on neodymium. Other articles in the Quebec section focus on the provinces new mining tax regime; the new Research Institute on Mines and Environment; details on Orbite Aluminae Inc.’s projects; and information on how Donner Metals Ltd. has taken their Bracemac-McLeod Mine from exploration to production.
In addition to these stories, our feature articles cover how mining companies can demonstrate that they are a good investment; alternative financing methods; how to identify risk connections; and how to protect workers from arc-flash incidents.
Finally, our departments―Transaction Report, Junior Mining News, International Update, Tax Time, Tools of the Trade and News Watch―discuss everything from partnering with First Nations communities, to new Dodd-Frank payment reporting requirements, to mining sector tax measures in the 2013 federal budget.
