PDAC 2022 Convention

The Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) annual Convention—the world’s premier mineral exploration and mining event—will be held both in person and online for the first time in its 90-year history, albeit a little later than expected.
Originally slated for March, PDAC 2022 will now be hosted in person in Toronto from June 13-15 and online from June 28-29 because of the uncertainty surrounding Ontario’s COVID-19 restrictions.
“The PDAC Convention provides an exciting meeting place for the world’s mineral exploration and mining industry to network, collaborate, learn, have fun, and do business in an environment that is open and safe,” says Lisa McDonald, PDAC’s Executive Director. “We understand the importance of being able to offer the complete convention experience to attendees, and moving it from March to June is the best opportunity for us to do that.”
Starting in 1932, the annual convention has grown in size, stature, and influence, and PDAC is once again excited to deliver a successful event to mark an important milestone anniversary coming out of a time of unprecedented global challenge.
“The COVID-19 pandemic showcased once more the importance of precious metals as gold prices soared to record heights,” said PDAC President, Alex Christopher. “It also demonstrated the significant social and economic impacts that exploration and mining can have on communities around the world, where we have seen the industry provide much needed support where it may otherwise not exist.”
The PDAC Convention in downtown Toronto is widely considered the ‘Super Bowl’ of the mineral exploration and mining community and is unmatched in its ability to connect participants to the international mining and exploration community, and keep them informed of the latest trends and technologies shaping the sector through extensive programming. Over the past decade alone, this must-attend event has brought together upwards of 30,000 attendees from more than 130 countries annually to network, conduct business, and learn.

An Exciting Opportunity
The in person convention will mark the return of exciting networking opportunities that have kept attendees returning to Toronto for decades. Essential Programming and Short Courses at PDAC 2022 will reflect trends taking shape throughout the sector.
The expanded Keynote Program will also provide a platform for experts to present on commodities, the mineral outlook, innovation, and new discoveries.
Keynote Program Sessions:
- Commodities Keynote: Copper Outlook: World Needs versus Industry Means – Vanessa Davidson, CRU Group
- Mineral Outlook Keynote: Tom Palmer, Newmont Corporation
- Technology Keynote: Innovation and the Future of Mining – Jeff Hanman, Teck Resources Limited
- New Discoveries Keynote: Winu Copper-Gold Deposit, Western Australia; Thayler Lindsley Award Winner, Rio Tinto Exploration – John Kilroe & Jennifer Maguire, Rio Tinto Exploration
The health and safety of attendees remains the top priority for PDAC, and directives by government and public health agencies will be followed in all stages of planning for PDAC 2022 in June.
“We look forward to welcoming the world’s mineral exploration and mining industry back to Toronto in a new and warmer season,” says Christopher.
