Xplor 2020 Goes Virtual

Written by Valérie Fillion, Geologist and Executive Director, QMEA
Once again, the Quebec Mineral Exploration Association (QMEA) will be bringing its members together for Xplor, its annual convention. However, the COVID-19 pandemic makes it unsafe to organize an in-person event with more than 1,000 attendees and 100 exhibitors. For that reason, the QMEA has decided to hold Xplor 2020 virtually. Members will be able to attend six training blocks over three days: October 19, 21, and 23, 2020. These diverse, high-quality conferences will serve as an excellent training opportunity for our members.
Our speakers will be giving conferences on the following subjects:
Market Report
This session will cover post-COVID economy and its effect on the commodities market, as well as the state of financing in Canada and the impact of tax measures. There will also be a presentation on the financing situation in Quebec and a discussion on ESG trends in the financing of junior mining companies.
Project Updates
These conferences will discuss the evolution of geological concepts and ways of thinking outside the box. Updates on the O’Brien (Radisson Mining Resources), Windfall (Osisko Mining) and O3 Mining projects will also be presented. A geological review of the context and deposits in the Chibougamau area will improve your knowledge of the region.
The latest news on the Casa Berardi and Detour Gold Trend sectors, the Douay, Fenelon and Elmer projects, Dore Copper, Troilus Gold, and Soquem-Azimut’s exploration strategy will also be discussed.
Doyon-Bousquet-Laronde Mining Camp
Does this historical mining camp still hold hidden treasures? Attendees will learn about the Doyon-Bousquet-Laronde Mining Camp and its history, its future, as well as the challenges related to its exploration.
COREM
This session will show you why geometallurgy is an important area of research and the benefits of starting studies early in the exploration stage.
Quebec’s Battery Strategy
This session is a must for anyone who wants to learn about market prospects, Quebec’s overall battery strategy, the role of Investissement Québec, the province’s plan for critical and strategic minerals, MISA’s take on the importance of innovation, and SOQUEM’s opinion on the abundance of minerals needed to manufacture batteries in Quebec’s subsoil.
